Through creating Fair Trade, equal opportunity jobs, Alaffia is committed to investing in our people for a more sustainable future.
TOGO, AFRICA
Alaffia has empowered over 14,000 lives in Togo, allowing traditional knowledge to be preserved. There are 750 cooperative members who work on Alaffia production. We also work with over 10,000 women collectors.
UNREFINED SHEA BUTTER
The women in our Alaffia Village co-op keep West African traditions alive by indigenously crafting our Fair Trade, unrefined, shea butter.
AFRICAN BLACK SOAP
Our women co-op members handcraft our Authentic African Black Soap from a centuries-old recipe of Unrefined, Raw Shea Butter and Orangutan-safe West African Palm Oil. Alaffias Authentic African collection is likened to the home remedies of Togolese mamans.
WEAVER COLLECTIVIES
We work closely with our sister organization, AYÉYA, to deliver Handwoven Baskets are from our co-ops in West Africa. Each basket is personally signed by the weaver. The weavers receive upfront Fair Trade wages. Alaffia’s work in these communities has provided potable water year-round for weavers in Sumbrungu Atampure and Shirigu, near Bolgatanga.
